During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE, India and the UAE solidified their partnership through an agreement on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), aimed at bolstering regional connectivity. This agreement, reached in discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, signifies a major step in enhancing the relations between India and the Gulf region.

In a significant statement made during its Parliamentary session, the Indian government reiterated its plan to spearhead the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), in collaboration with global powerhouses including the European Union, France, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the USA. This initiative, first announced at the G20 Leaders’ Summit on Sept 9, 2023, aims to connect India with the Gulf and Europe through two strategic corridors, enhancing trade routes and economic integration across continents.
